Issue Position

I am opposed to the Death Tax (estate tax), because I believe it is a double tax -- it is imposed on earnings and assets that have already been subject to income, social security, and other taxes. Since it is often cheaper to sell the family-owned business before death rather than pass it to one's heirs, the Death Tax cripples family farms, weakens small businesses, inhibits economic growth, and restricts future investment. I will work to eliminate the Death Tax at the state level.
